2024 Folk Festival Weekend Itinerary

Picture this: a late summer evening and the streets of downtown Greensboro are flooded with beautiful music wafting through the warm evening air. It’s Friday, September 6, 2024 – the first day of the 10th annual NC Folk Festival. It’s the start of three days filled with free music, culture, and fun.

But here’s the best part – the fun doesn’t stop with the festival! Now’s the time to plan your weekend getaway to Greensboro!

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 2024

4:00 pm

Come in on Thursday and check into your hotel for a long weekend.

6:30 pm

Enjoy Thirsty Thursday at the Greensboro Grasshoppers Game. Treat yourself to dinner at First National Bank Field, including discounted 16oz. drafts ($3 domestic and $5 premium), $3 burgers, and $2 fountain drinks and bottled water.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 2024

Sleep in and enjoy breakfast at your hotel.

10:00 am

For a day of family fun, enjoy the Greensboro Science Center, Miriam P. Brenner Children’s Museum, bowling at SpareTime, or mini golf at ParTee Shack.

Shoppers should check out Replacements, LTD, a one-of-a-kind experience offering eight football fields of dinnerware, collectibles, and estate jewelry. The pet-friendly destination offers daily tours on the hour between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.

If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, you’ll want to visit Greensboro’s many parks and greenways. Enjoy biking, hiking, playgrounds, public art, and much more throughout the city. Or take to the links for a day of golf.

For the history buff, start your morning at the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, home of the famous 1960 sit-in that sparked the Civil Rights Movement, tour the Greensboro History Museum, or enjoy some time outdoors at Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, the site of a famous Revolutionary War Battle.

Take a break and enjoy lunch at one of Greensboro’s more than 500 dining establishments. Check out local favorites in a variety of cuisines and locations.

After lunch, enjoy a relaxing stroll through the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden or the nearby Bog Gardens (or both!).

3:30 pm

Eat like a local at Yum Yum Better Ice Cream, a nearly 120-year-old Greensboro mainstay. (Please note: Yum Yum is cash only).

4:00 pm

Head back to your hotel for a little R&R before the festival begins.

5:00 pm

Get ready to rock! The Folk Festival begins at 5:00 pm tonight and will keep the music going until 11:00 pm. Then head back to your hotel to prepare for a full day of festival fun.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2024

9:00 am

11:00 am
