Choose Your Own Festival Adventure

September 18–20

Greensboro’s biggest September weekend offers several very different ways to experience the city. Pick the event that speaks to you—or combine two if the schedules cooperate.

  • Downtown, the free North Carolina Folk Festival presents more than 80 artists, 40 food vendors and 60 makers. The 2026 headliners include St. Paul and the Broken Bones, The Roots and Molly Tuttle, but discoveries from across musical traditions are part of the fun.
  • At Country Park, the Guilford Native American Association’s Annual Pow Wow welcomes hundreds of Native American dancers and drum groups from tribes across the country. Visitors can experience Grand Entries, singing, dancing, traditional food and Native arts while learning how to attend respectfully.
  • Meanwhile, the Carolina Cowboys return to First Horizon Coliseum for PBR Cowboy Days. The annual three-day homestand carries extra excitement in 2026: the Cowboys ride into Greensboro as the reigning PBR Teams champions.
  • This is also the final weekend of the Central Carolina Fair.

Welcome the Hurricanes Home—and Keep Celebrating

September 24–27

  • Start the weekend early with a homecoming 27 years in the making. On Thursday, September 24, the Carolina Hurricanes face the Nashville Predators at First Horizon Coliseum—the team’s first Greensboro appearance since 1999. The Hurricanes played their first two North Carolina seasons in Greensboro, giving this preseason matchup a special connection to the city’s hockey history.
  • Then, be “Greek for the weekend” at the Greensboro Greek Festival, September 25–27. Fill your plate with Greek specialties and pastries, listen to live music, watch traditional dancing, browse the marketplace and learn more through church tours and cultural activities.
  • Sports fans can also see N.C. A&T face Rhode Island in the Aggies’ Hall of Fame football game on Saturday, September 26. Families have another high-energy option with Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live, running September 26–27 at First Horizon Coliseum.
